Let's be honest: corporate events can be a mixed bag. After years of office parties, product launches and everything in-between, we at Twist Events have picked up a few nuggets of wisdom that go beyond just the perfect cocktail recipe.

So, before you hit "send" on those invites for your next event, check out these five tips that'll ensure your event is the talk of the office (for all the right reasons).

1. Access is the secret ingredient

Think of your venue like a stage. Before the curtain rises, the crew needs access to set the scene. Whether it's a swanky venue or your own office space, access for your suppliers is paramount.

Loading bays, lifts, security protocols, and even the right postcode can make all the difference between a smooth setup and a logistical nightmare. Don't leave it to chance – clarify all those little details ahead of time.

2. Thursday: the new Friday? Not quite.

Thursday night events might seem like a tempting way to kick-start the weekend, but they come with a catch – everyone else is thinking the same thing! You'll be fighting tooth and nail for the best venues and suppliers.

Instead, consider a mid-week morale boost with a Wednesday night do. Or embrace the “new Friday” and host your event on an actual Friday. It's a great way to tempt your remote or hybrid team back into the office and create a buzz.

3. Strike the perfect balance

Office parties and alcohol are a tricky mix. A “drink till you drop” culture can often overshadow a corporate event, leaving those who don’t partake feeling left out.

Fortunately, the rise of delicious low- and no-alcohol drinks means everyone can join the fun – no matter their drinking preferences.

Worried about things getting a bit too lively? You can also tweak your cocktails, so they have lower alcohol content but taste just as good as the originals.

4. Keep the drinks simple

You don't need a full bar to please everyone. A well-chosen selection of wine, beer, and 3 signature cocktails (with their non-alcoholic counterparts) will hit the spot.

Trust us, a well-crafted menu is far more memorable than an overwhelming list of options. And if you need a hand, we can help you create a menu that caters to all tastes without breaking the bank.

5. Timing is everything

Make sure everyone knows when the party starts (and when it's time to call it a night). This avoids delays and ensures a smooth flow from work mode to party mode. And don't forget to factor in ample prep time for your bar team.

Most people also have to get home somehow, so consider this when planning your bar service to avoid unnecessary wastage. You don't want to be left with a mountain of unused drinks at the end of the night!

So there you have it. With a bit of planning and these insider tips, you'll be well on your way to hosting an unforgettable corporate event.
